Jeanie Marie Buss (born Jeanie Marie Buss) is an American woman of business. The current president is as well as the sole owner of the Los Angeles Lakers National Basketball Association. A California native Buss has been raised by an affluent family. Jerry Buss is her father. He was an estate tycoon, and later the owner of Lakers, among other businesses. The emotional strain she felt was exacerbated as her parents divorced in 1972. As a 19-year-old she inherited management of the Los Angeles Strings professional Tennis team as General Manager. After that, she established in the Los Angeles Blades team of professional roller hockey. She was the president of Great Western Forum prior to becoming the vice-president of Lakers. Her father passed away in 2013 and his controlling ownership of the Lakers was transferred to Buss as well as her siblings through a family trust that gave each sibling equal voting rights.
